Team Rules and Registration Information


Purpose:   The purpose is to help build relationships, and promote health and fitness.


Team Challenge
Gather your friends, relatives, or co-workers and form a team! Prizes will be awarded for the fastest, and most-spirited teams!


Note: Once a team is registered, you will not be able to make any changes.


Teams: To participate -  Each team will consist of three individuals.  These individuals must pre-register using the same team name. Each registration entry must declare a team name.  Finish times of the 3 people of each team are totaled for a team score. The 3 teams with the lowest score will place 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Team members are also eligible for individual awards.


An institution can field more than one team, but only one team is eligible to win a prize.


The person who creates and pays (if applicable) for the team name is designated the Team Captain. 


Entering: Each team member must register individually. The team captain must register first through and provide a name for the team.


Eligibility: Team members must be over 14.  Team participation is for the 5K run only.


Entry Fee: Team Registrations are free.  All teams must register by 11:59 p.m. on May 19, 2013.   You MUST purchase an individual registration for each team member.  Creating a name DOES NOT register you for the race. See the additional information for team creation below.


Scoring: For all team competitions, a team's score will be determined by the total time of the 3 finishers on the team.  Any team that competes with persons who are not properly registered may be disqualified.


Prizes for the top 3 teams (TBD):

  • 1st Place Prixe
  • 2nd Place Prize
  • 3rd Place Prize


Awards: There will be an official ceremony following the race conclusion.   


Dispute resolution: Disputes will be resolved by the Take A Step For Your Heroes 5K Competition Committee.  Dispute resolution shall be final.
